lets get to it
now not only was this gig set up to support an amazing cause it was also a banging night! one of 'the long roads' members - pianist sara williamson has recently written a book! titled 'Blood Red Sky' the fundraiser for the book was re-opened to align with the gig as the gig was intended to promote the book! amazing stuff right?
well an impact must've been made because the kings theatre was absolutely packed. every act that played had such an impact on the crowd, they were totally enthralled by Dave wood and the Coaltown daises and then dancing their hearts out to got got need and the long road!
the show started with Dave wood, who did an amazing job performing without his band! he was accompanied by his drummer who rocked a cajon for the acoustic performance. they had just the right energy to hype up the crowd while still keeping everyone mellow enough to not be worn out.

then we were onto the Coaltown daisies, an amazing two piece that brought a lovely Scottish folk style to the gig, they both brought a host of talent with them both singing, playing guitar and drumming! not all at the same, that would be insane! but they both switch between their instruments absolutely flawlessly; even when guitars wouldn't tune right! I absolutely loved these ladies, they had a great stage presence and even better banter. their songs were spectacular and made me feel like I was sitting in a tiny pub somewhere deep in the highlands with a pint of mead!

these guys were followed by 'Got Got Need' our first full band of the night. they blew everyone away bringing so much excited energy to the stage. the crowd loved it! jumping around and dancing to every song without fail. they definitely hyped up the crowd for 'the long road' set.
their frontman spared no energy at all, making sure to interact with the crowd as much as possible! they, as well as the Coaltown daisies invited sara onto the stage to play in a few songs! adding the keyboard into a few of their songs added an amazing punch to them, creating a depth that just worked so well.

and last but definitely not least, the long road! a full 5 piece band that will absolutely blow your socks off. with main singer and guitarist also sporting a harmonica for some songs how could anyone not be entranced? even though they encountered some technical difficulties at the beginning they still pulled through and blew it out the park.
playing some of their most popular songs, the crowd was loving it. about halfway through the set the payed homage to an old band by inviting the Coaltown daisies and a member from got got need to sing backing vocals while they played an old song. the song has changed quite a bit since then but it was still a heart-warming scene! they ended the night in style with the whole crowd shouting for an encore!
this was such an excellent gig with all the bands being friends supporting sara new book. they had so much support from the crowd it was so heart warming.
lets wish all the best to saras new book and to all the bands future performances!
